In 1889, Captain Max Von Stephanitz was inspired by a remarkable working dog who had required no training to understand his "job" as a sheep herder. He executed this task in a most remarkably efficient manner while also acting as a protector and companion for the family of the farmer. The dog "Hektor Linksrhein", was purchased by Von Stephanitz and renamed "Horand von Grafrath", becoming the first registered German Shepherd Dog. Within the next few years Captain Max Von Stephanitz created the Verein für Deutsche Sch·ferhunde, S.V. (German Shepard Dog club). This is where the strict standardization guidelines of form and temperament in the breed were first developed. While the beauty of these dogs is undeniable, the breeds mental characteristics and physical abilities have always taken precedence over appearance . The captain's motto was "Utility and intelligence". F.H.P.K9 proudly strives to stay true to his vision of GSD standards.
We offer three beautiful GSD breed types, all remaining true to the Captains utilitarian vision.1.
